Forgiveness is a bath.

Forgiveness is an everyday bath,
Working from the inner darkness towards an entity that our perception doesn’t forgive.
A ritual that one time doesn’t suffice.
Living around the creators of gut wrenching ever visible scars
Looking into the eyes of outer elements and blood ties
That chain us into caves of relationships,
Ever a reminder that only time will create the space.
The visible that surround our aura on a daily basis,
The invisible and yet haunting memories of those who left us to feed on our monsters.
The everyday badgering and sudden doings that don’t favor our taste
And seek melting of ourselves into their realities.
The derivative words and behaviors that prism through our senses and form shapes of knives
That cut through silent peaceful streams of existence to erupt volcanic anger and guilt and shame.
We try everything- expression, transfer, projection, sympathy, pity and escape.
We fight and then fly into nothingness and accept defeat only to land on our knees with the tenants of ghostly misery.
Ever soiled needing to bathe again.
Prayers of change and metamorphosis don’t help. For us and others.
Miraculous transformations are unlikely and we realize that this is the reality created.
Unsure if the creators are within us or outside of us.
Some perish and some persist.
Only to be told by the inner voice that the higher ground needs to be walked to with a cross on our backs that spells forgiveness.
We have to carry the weight of an inner turmoil and then reach a view where we release it into the ether with the words “I forgive you”.
We weep into rivers the past and let the water flow into the valley of nothingness and close the door to that mountain as we walk away knowing that when this is over, we needn’t visit the spot ever again.
To let go takes effort to untangle the chaos of thoughts, actions and fingers pointing.
The outside can only be blamed, the inside can only be shamed.
The world doesn’t carpet itself. We wear the slippers of protection.
The slippers of forgiveness that endure cobbled visuals and visions.
Better maybe to forgive before we seek new endeavors we think.
The future must start with letting go before we entangle again.
The bath must be had at the start of the day.
